Royal National Park
Located just a two-minute walk from our retreat centre, the beautiful Royal National Park will be sure to satisfy your wildlife and nature cravings. Characterised by picturesque coastal cliffs, secluded beaches, and eucalyptus rich bushland, the reserve is a perfect getaway for outdoor enthusiasts, or for those looking to enjoy some quiet time in nature.
Bald Hill Lookout
Known internationally as a major hang gliding launch site, Bald Hill Lookout is one of the most renowned viewpoints in the Illawarra area — making the 30-minute walk worth every step! Be sure to bring your camera, and prepare a picnic to enjoy the stunning sunrises and sunsets that Bald Hill has to offer.
Kellys Falls
Kellys Falls is a picnic area located within the Garawarra State Conservation Area, just an 8-minute drive from Heart & Soul Retreats. With a network of walking trails, cascading waterfalls, and four stunning lookout points, this area offers amazing rainforest views.
Sea Cliff Bridge
Accessible via a 15-minute walk from Coalcliff Station, Sea Cliff Bridge offers great views over the ocean and coastline, and is a spectacular viewing platform for whales during the migration season.
Figure 8 Pools
Located on a rock ledge south of Burning Palms Beach in the Royal National Park, the Figure 8 Pools are a natural wonder you have to see for yourself. Be sure to check the tides before you visit, as access to Figure Eight Pools is only safe at low tide and when surf conditions are calm and flat.
Otford Railway Tunnel
This disused1.6km train tunnel in Otford has become a popular and well-known attraction. However, access may be blocked by external barriers or fencing and the tunnel may be closed at either end.
Wattamolla Picnic Area
Named after the local Aboriginal word meaning “place near running water”, Wattamolla marks the spot where a large lagoon within the Royal National Park meets the ocean. A popular spot for swimming, fishing, snorkelling, and bushwalking, Wattamolla is the perfect place to get back in touch with nature.
Nan Tien Buddhist Temple
With a literal translation of “Paradise of the South”, Nan Tien Temple is the largest Buddhist temple in the Southern Hemisphere. Open every day of the week apart from Monday, the temple welcomes visitors free of charge to explore the expansive grounds and temple buildings.
